How Can I Live My Best Life?

Want To Know How?

The Question “how can you live your best life?” has become a bit of a cliche in recent times but perhaps as much as it seems to be banded about by slimey online marketing gurus at its heart is an honest depiction of the age old concept, discussed by generations of philosophical greats from Socrates to Slavoj Zizek, about what it means to live The Good Life.

I created this platform for two reasons, one was to have somewhere I could dedicate time to exploring the idea(l) of ‘the good life’ in the modern world, through the lens of reason, science, psychology and philosophical inquiry. I hope to create a pathway towards composure and balance, of the mind, body and spirit in order to build a life of freedom from both self-imposed tyranny and external control. I also hope to build a educational system from this method so others might benefit.

What I have concluded so far is that, at a time in our history when an overwhelming array of life choices, unprecedented access to information and ideas, both good and bad, and a world seemingly nudged evermore closer towards a precipice of hate and division, the quest for a meaningful existence, whatever that means, has never been more prescient, and demands not just introspection but informed, rational thought.

I want to strip away the noise of daily life to uncover the principles that might lead me, and you, to a life of depth, fulfillment, and purpose. I want to look at and analyse what others have said about “The Good Life” and attempt, where appropriate, to utilize that information into a practical methodology for looking at and living…life.

My hope is to build a community of people committed to the same prospects who are willing to delve into critical discussions, guided by evidence and a profound commitment to curiosity and an understanding of the essence of well-being in the modern world and find out exactly how to attain, and what it means to live, “The Good Life”.

About Simon

A designer and art director in the brand, advertising, marketing and design industry for the best part of 20 years.

I had an experience when I was around 10 years of age that led me to form a passionate curiosity as to why people make the choices they do. This, in turn, led me to ponder the question “what is it I want to do with my life?” If this is a question you find the need to ask of yourself I hope the answer comes to you quickly. Needless to say, this question has stayed with me for almost the entirety of my adult life and has burgeoned into a passion for philosophical enquiry and a an understanding of psychology, specifically related to a person’s desire for happiness and fulfillment which I have concluded to being a desire for The Good Life.

It has led me to believe that the much of the self-help industry is fallacious and, well, generally complete BS, and that there are profound answers to be found about yourself, people and the world around you through a deeper understanding of  philosophy, psychology and self-knowledge.

In a world in which we are finally seeing the emergence of Ai and other forms of technology that will make all of us question our usefulness to the world, I believe the way we think, imagine, understand and perceive will become of greater value to ourselves and (wo)mankind. That or become a plumber…ther is always a need for a good plumber.

So this is where I am. I’m in the process of looking for The good Life and I would love it, if you’re someone who’s also a lifelong learner and who wants greater authority over their own life and what they do, for you to accompany me on this journey to The Good Life.

MY VISION

Live The Good Life.

MY MISSION

To help others find The Good Life.

MY VALUES

1. Curiosity 2. Wisdom 3. Knowledge 4. Understanding 5. Self Knowledge/Awareness 6. Freedom 7. Beauty/Awe/Wonder 8. Peacefulness/Tranquility 9. Gratitude 10.  Honesty

I am of the opinion that everyone deserves an education that empowers them to create their own future, a future they can feel excited about and in control of regardless of age or background; which is I choose to enable individuals who feel the need to improve on their life, through the exploration of philosophical enquiry, critical thinking and design thinking tools, to instil a desire for knowledge and a curios mind in order to create a future life that they can take control of and feel excited about. The Good Life.

So I choose to act with curiosity, a desire to attain greater knowledge so that I might have a greater understanding of myself, others and world around us; with the ultimate aim of improving our lives in the hope that in our achievement and fulfilment we might achieve greater wisdom and bring the same to others, and to follow this path with gratitude, appreciation and awe at the beauty and wonder that exists in all things.
